My pledge to clients:

100% commitment to focus on your personal needs and to always strive to exceed expectations. I love repeat clients.

Favorite Client Story:

Jennifer came to me for a European facial. She informed me that she, her mother and two sisters love spa services, have had many spa services and had high expectations. After her relaxing facial, I explained what services and products would most benefit Jennifer’s skin. Jennifer, her mother and two sisters are now all loyal clients and report their skin has never looked better.

Francine
Aesthetician

Five years experience Michigan College of Beauty, Troy, Michigan Licensed and Certified by Michigan State Board of Cosmetology Certificate of Achievement from LaRoche-Posay on the Fundamental Concepts in Medical Skincare.

Why I became an Aesthetician:

I read a book that said,” Think back to when you were a very young child and what you wanted to be when you grew up".  Chances are you would be very successful if you pursued the career that you wanted as a child.  My ambition as a 4 year old was to be an Avon Lady!  36 years later I became a successful aesthetician!

Service Skills:

Facials, microdermabrasion, salicylic and glycolic peels, back treatments, hair removal by waxing.

Client testimony:

The highest compliment a client has ever paid me was by being loyal and driving over 25 miles one way to have me perform services on her and her husband.  She has followed me here to Schenden's Spas from another spa that I used to work at.  Both she and her husband are regular clients, they trust my judgment on any treatments and products I suggest for their skin care needs.

My pledge to clients:

I will use my skills and expertise to give them the highest quality and customer service I can render for all of their skin care options.

Favorite Client Story:

I helped a client emotionally as well as physically by clearing up a face full of acne, by faithfully administering salicylic peels and recommending the correct LaRoche-Posay products.  Her goal was to go to Hawaii without any acne and we accomplished that goal this past spring.

Why I became an Aesthetician:

The medical facials and products offered at Schenden’s Spas made such a dramatic improvement in my skin I immediately felt compelled to educate myself so I could help others.

Facials, peels, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, manicures, pedicures.

Amanda
Aesthetician

2006 graduate of Douglas J. Aveda Institute, Ann Arbor, MI. 2006 Certificate of Completion: BellaDerm Chemical Peels and Microdermabrasion, Monroe, MI. 2008 Certificate of Completion: Biomedic/LaRoche-Posay Medical Skincare, Troy, MI.

Why I became an Aesthetician:

I've always had a fascination with the connection between health, beauty, and wellness. Being an Aesthetician allows me to tap into this fascination, and provide a sense of understanding to my clients to help you feel and look your best.

Service Skills:

Microdermabrasion, glycolic exfoliating, salicylic treatments, full body waxing. I also give a mesmerizing facial massage! The anatomy of the skin amazes me, and I can often pinpoint exactly where a client's skin problem stems, whether it be using the wrong cleanser, or a hormonal imbalance. Acne fears me.

Client testimony:

"Amanda, you're the only person allowed to touch my skin.  Even I'm not allowed to touch it!"

My pledge to clients:

I will listen to your needs, and give you an honest recommendation to achieve the best results for you.  I will be your skin expert, for your specific needs.  Plus, I'm a fun person to visit every month!

Favorite Client Story:

I have a client that comes in for a salicylic facial treatment every 2 weeks.  When I first met her, she suffered from adult acne, and was skeptical of spa services.  After just a single treatment, she saw results.  After a full series of treatments, she is confident with her beautiful clear skin for the first time in her life.

  • Michael J. Schenden, M.D. (1997-present)

Why I became an Aesthetician:

I decided to become an aesthetician after I received wonderful results from the services of a great aesthetician in my native Poland. I thought I could help others achieve the same positive results I got.

Service Skills:

Laser-aging, acne, hyper-pigmentation, spider veins, laser hair removal, broken capillaries; permanent make-up; tattooing- areola (following breast reconstruction) eyebrows, eye-liner; microdermabrasion, mild and deep facial peels (rejuvenation).

Specialties: Diagnosing problem skin and then creating a solution based upon my training, intuition and experience. My specialty is resolving the difficult skin issue based upon the client’s individual situation.

Client testimony:

“I used to hate my skin, and no one seemed to know what to do to help me. Rose treated me, and now, I LOVE my skin. She saved my wedding!” (Shannon)

My pledge to clients:

I will take my time to figure out what we need to do to make your skin the best it can be. In skin care one procedure or one product doesn’t fit all, your skin is unique to you and so is the solution to your skin issue.

Favorite Client Story:

Come in two types- 1.) When clients tell me they have been trying for years to resolve a skin issue without success and together we figure it out; and, 2.) When new clients come in without much hope of a successful resolution and we fix their problem.

Jennifer
Aesthetician

I attended the Naperville Skin Institue in Illinios completing 750 hours of training in Esthetics. I have 3 years experience in the field of skincare and absolutely love it!

Why I became an Aesthetician:

My mother and aunt own a spa in a Chicago and I was their apprentice for a little while to see if I would like to pursue skin care as my career, after a few short months I decided this was the job for me! Immediately I enrolled in a school to become an esthetician.

Client testimony:

Every story is worthy of being on this page but if I had to narrow it down I would like to talk about my client Jane (not her real name). Her acne started at puberty and developed into adult acne. The scaring and discoloration were compared to dime size cysts that would form deep under her skin. She described her skin as ugly, frustrating and embarrassing. Jane was an incredibly beautiful girl that was dealing with a major skin condition that seemed to be hopeless. What she needed was an intense professional skincare regimen to clean her pores and a home care program to combat the oil production in her skin. The results were amazing. With the help of our high frequency and galvanic treatments her skin had done a full circle, and for me that is the most rewarding part of my job, making a difference that’s noticeable.

My pledge to clients:

Skin care is my passion, therefore your skin is my passion! When you come in to see me you can expect expert advice on how to take care of your skin and what we can do professionally to make your skin look its very best.

Favorite Client Story:

My client who was exasperated with spending globs of money at make-up counters and dermatologists came to me and I gave her a microdermabrasion that she said was a better treatment than at the doctor’s and she felt very cared for and that I wasn't pushing her to spend, spend, spend. Instead I started her out with samples and spaced out her treatments to make it as affordable as possible. Eventually, we introduced all the home care products to take great care of her skin and a professional regimen that she was super excited about.

Sonja
Aesthetician

Why I became an Aesthetician:

I have always been very interested in skin care. Having my own skin care challenge with adult acne brought me to see an aesthetician. She helped me a great deal with my skin and inspired me with a new career. I want to help people the way she helped me.

Service Skills:

Glycolic facials with dermaplaning, Salicylic facials, Microdermabrasion, Brow Shaping, Lash and Brow Tinting, Facials and back treatments

Client testimony:

A client stopped seeing his dermatologist and started seeing me bi-weekly for salicylic facials because the LaRoche-Posay skin care products combined with treatments made such a huge improvement with his skin.

My pledge to clients:

I am committed to giving my best to every client’s personal needs. I will guide you with the best skincare products and services.

Massage Therapists

Carolyn Skalnek
Reiki Therapist

Carolyn Skalnek is a Reiki Master/Instructor and has been practicing Usui Reiki since 2000. Originally, the idea was to learn Reiki for her own self-healing, but has developed into a career, a pathway for volunteering and personal growth.

Skills/Specialties

Reiki(pronounced rA- kE) is a modern therapeutic application of the ancient, traditional Japanese art of deep healing and relaxation.  Not only do some spas offer Reiki, but many medical institutions also offer this service as it’s been proven to be useful in alleviating symptoms and cancer related side effects from chemo and radiation.
Clients are amazed at the level of relaxation obtained in just a single session of this energy work, but also feel “recharged and balanced”.  Many clients report positive changes physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Client Story

I think Reiki is something everyone should be open to and try.  It leaves you feeling totally relaxed but invigorated.  It's rejuvenating.  When I arrived at the spa for my first session, I had a terrible pain in my back, and I had had it for several days.  At the end of the session, when I sat up, the pain was totally gone.  I've experienced not only physical healing but emotional healing as well.  It really is wonderful!  --Mary
If you are interested in a body, mind, spirit approach to enhance your well-being, now is the time to make an appointment for a Reiki treatment with Carolyn.

Before treatment she was lucky to get 4 straight hours of sleep, after treatment she was resting a full 8 straight hours! She was even happy to report she was able to take on the task of cleaning her house by herself and take a nice walk. "What a great benefit massage is to me, it really helps me have a better life!"
